INSTRUCTIONS FOR ADDING THE NEW ENHANCEMENTS TO AN EXISTING INSTALLATION OF SCANSNAP S1500, S1500M, S1300 OR S1100

NOTE: If you see these icons in the Quick Menu or Applications selection menu in ScanSnap Manager, you already have the enhancements and can proceed to Step 2.

STEP 1: INSTALL THE SCANSNAP ENHANCEMENTS

There are two options available for adding the enhancements, either Online Update or Manual Download & Install. Please choose one.

Online Update: (Recommended)

From the system tray or dock, right-click once on the ScanSnap Manager icon, select 'Help' and select 'Online Update' and follow the instructions

Manual Download and Install:

STEP 2: INSTALL SUGARSYNC MANAGER

Text Box:  If you are a present user of SugarSync® and have 'SugarSync Manager' installed on your computer, you may skip this step as ScanSnap is already prepared to scan to SugarSync. Additionally, if you do not want to use this function, you can skip this step.

Download SugarSync Manager

The 'Scan to SurgarSync' option will not appear in ScanSnap's Quick Menu or Applications tab unless 'SugarSync Manager' from SugarSync® is installed. Proceed to the website below and download and install the applicable 'SugarSync Manager' application for your Windows or Mac computer (follow the instructions provided by SugarSync).

HOW DO I USE ‘SCAN TO SUGARSYNC’ FOR THE FIRST TIME?

Place a document into ScanSnap, press the scan button and select 'Scan to SugarSync' from the Quick Menu. The document(s) will appear in the ScanSnap preview window where you can change the file name as well as set the destination of the document. Typically, a folder called [Magic Briefcase\ScanSnap] will appear and clicking the Save button will save it there on your Mac or PC. This folder may already be 'synchronized' to your personal SurgerSync account in the cloud which in turn provides access to your content from other computers and mobile devices already synchronized by you.

NOTE: You can turn off 'preview' from settings 'gear' in the upper right-hand corner of the Scan to SugarSync icon in Quick Menu.


STEP 3: INSTALL ‘SCANSNAP CONNECT’ TO AN iPAD or iPHONE

Text Box:  At this point, the 'Scan to Mobile' function is already installed on your computer and is selectable on the Quick Menu; however, in order to scan to your iPad or iPhone using ScanSnap, you will need to install 'ScanSnap Connect' on your mobile device.

Search and Install ‘ScanSnap Connect’ on your mobile device from App Store or iTunes

 

 

HOW DO I ‘SCAN TO MOBILE’ FOR THE FIRST TIME?

There is some setup required when scanning to your iPad or iPhone for the first time but afterwards the scanning process will utilize previously established connections and settings to provide a more streamlined experience.

Requirements: A compatible Windows or Mac computer and an existing Wi-Fi connection established between the computer and iPad or iPhone using Mac iOS 4.2.1 or later.  

STEP 1:  From your iPad or iPhone, search the App Store and download 'ScanSnap Connect' to your mobile device ( free).

                         

STEP 2:  With the Quick Menu enabled, place a document into ScanSnap, press the scan button, and select 'Scan to Mobile' from Quick Menu (above).

STEP 3:  The‘Welcome to Scan to Mobile’ dialogue window will appear with some instructions. Click OK.

                                        

STEP 4:  The ‘Scan to Mobile – Basic’ dialogue box (above) will appear to allow you to control the experience of the function as well as an opportunity to create a new password needed by the mobile device intended to receive scans later. Click OK when finished.

STEP 5:  A new dialogue window will appear on the computer waiting to connect with the mobile device (below). Also, the 'Scan to Mobile' icon will appear in the dock or tray. It will appear yellow at first and then blue only after connection to a mobile device is established. This icon provides access to 'Scan to Mobile' settings.

                                        

STEP 6: To establish connection, launch 'ScanSnap Connect' on the iPad or iPhone. The device will detect the connection but will await for the password to be entered. Enter the same password you created earlier and click OK on the mobile device. The connection will synchronize and the content will pass to the device momentarily.

                                

STEP 7:  You can continue to scan documents and they will pass to the device uninterrupted. Tap once on the image to export it to other compatible iPad applications installed by you. To delete the image from your iPad, sweep left on the image bar. To view a larger image, click on the blue arrow. When you are finished sending scans to the device, click 'Close' on the 'Scan to Mobile' window to end the session.

                     

STEP 4: SCAN TO SALESFORCE CHATTER

Text Box:  At this stage, the 'Scan to Salesforce Chatter' function is already available on the Quick Menu and may be used in a number of ways to scan content directly into your organization's Salesforce account. If you do not use Salesforce, you may remove this icon from your Quick Menu by selecting the link in the lower right-hand corner of the Quick Menu called [Applications to Show/Hide]. Select the appropriate application and click the [<< Remove] button. The icon will be hidden until you choose to restore it.

The 'Scan to Salesforce Chatter' function provides operators a way to scan documents directly into Salesforce Chatter or attach documents into a specific Account or Contact inside Salesforce provided these resources are available and accessible to you by your organization's administrator.

 

HOW DO I ‘SCAN TO SALESFORCE CHATTER’ FOR THE FIRST TIME?

Requirements: An active Salesforce account (Ultimate or Enterprise edition only) with valid and current Salesforce user ID credentials and token, an internet connection and a ScanSnap. The Salesforce Chatter application from Salesforce is required only if you intend to scan into Salesforce Chatter, otherwise, you can scan documents as attachments into a Contact and other permissible resources in Salesforce.

STEP 1:  Place a document into ScanSnap, press the scan button, and select the small round 'gear' in the upper right-hand corner of the 'Scan to Salesforce Chatter' icon to access 'Settings'. Enter valid Salesforce credentials and security token. Once it is entered, you do not need to re-enter it again and you can bypass 'Settings'. If you do not know how to obtain these Salesforce credentials it is recommended that you consult with your account's administrator.

STEP 2:  Once the credentials are entered, click OK and continue.

               

STEP 3:  It can take a moment for your computer, ScanSnap, and Salesforce to synchronize over the internet but once the connection is established, the Scan to Salesforce Chatter preview window appears. Here, you can perform several different actions such as posting a document as a Chatter thread or attaching the document to an applicable and searchable resource within Salesforce.


STEP 5: ORGANIZER SOFTWARE

If you use ScanSnap Organizer to manage your scans created by ScanSnap, the new enhancements can be added to the existing 'Actions' inside Organizer. These post-scan actions allow you to be productive with your content long after you scan paperwork with ScanSnap.

                                        

If you do not see the enhancements, install the update to Organizer software by first clicking on the Organizer icon at the top left-hand corner of the application and then clicking 'Options'. Now click 'Resources' and select 'Confirm' and then follow the on-screen instructions.

                                       

To use an Action, drag a PDF file to the Action on the left-hand side or click on a thumbnail and select an action from the Action tab above.
